Bridge House sits at the heart of medieval Kersey, its distinctive pink façade and timber frame perfectly positioned beside 'the splash' – the village's iconic ford. Dating back to the 15th century, this beautifully restored cottage offers authentic Suffolk character with all the modern comforts you'd expect.
Nothing beats the crackle of a real fire after a day exploring Suffolk. This cast iron stove sits against original exposed brickwork, surrounded by traditional fireplace tools and wicker baskets filled with logs. Winter evenings here are something special as warmth radiates through the historic walls.
Sink into comfortable sofas around the wood-burning stove set within an original inglenook fireplace. With exposed timber beams, warm yellow walls and natural flooring, this room becomes particularly magical when evening draws in and the Suffolk skies darken outside.
The dining area showcases authentic Suffolk heritage with its terracotta brick floor, weathered wooden table and exposed ceiling beams. Windows flood the space with natural light, while plants and flowers bring the outside in. A perfect setting for lingering meals and good conversation.
Step outside to a green sanctuary with manicured lawns, mature trees and comfortable seating areas. Morning coffee on the patio, afternoon reading in an Adirondack chair, or evening drinks watching the sunset – the garden offers space to unwind while still being just moments from the village centre.
This additional sitting room with its low beamed ceiling, half-timbered walls and golden hues creates a snug retreat for quiet moments. The mixture of antique furniture and comfortable seating makes it ideal for reading, chatting, or simply watching the world go by through original windows.
Books and beams create instant atmosphere in this cosy corner. The glass-fronted bookcase houses an eclectic collection – perfect for browsing with a morning coffee or evening glass of wine. Original brick flooring and wooden ceiling timbers remind you of the cottage's rich history.
Another angle of the beautiful dining space shows how light plays across the ancient beams and terracotta flooring. Windows on multiple sides ensure brightness throughout the day, while the solid oak table offers the perfect spot for everything from breakfast pastries to elaborate dinners showcasing Suffolk's famous local produce.
Light floods into this vaulted kitchen through skylights and windows. The contrast is striking – crisp white cabinetry alongside ancient wooden beams. The central island with comfortable seating makes cooking social, while high-quality appliances ensure preparing meals is a pleasure rather than a chore.
Sliding glass doors dissolve the boundary between indoors and garden, bringing Suffolk's famous light and landscape into the home. Whether thrown open on warm days or closed against winter weather, the connection to nature remains. Comfortable seating makes this transitional space a favourite spot year-round.
Bridge House brilliantly balances old and new – the original pink Suffolk cottage now enhanced with contemporary glass extensions. These additions respect the historic character while adding light-filled, flexible living spaces that open directly to the garden through wide glass doors.
