Guest Reviews

"Myrtle Cottage is an absolute gem! From the moment we arrived to find fresh flowers and bread waiting for us, we knew we were somewhere special. The cottage perfectly balances traditional Suffolk charm with modern comfort - the sitting room with its wood burner was our favourite spot for cosy evenings, while the spacious kitchen-diner became the heart of our holiday. The gardens are stunning - clearly designed with care and perfect for morning coffee or evening BBQs. Our dogs loved the enclosed space and the nearby walks. The location is spot on too - we walked to The Old Chequers Inn several times (great food!), explored Snape Maltings, and spent days on Aldeburgh beach. The cottage was immaculately clean, well-equipped, and felt like a real home rather than a holiday let. We've already booked to return next year!"

Your Suffolk Coastal Hideaway

Myrtle Cottage catches you by surprise in the best possible way. At first glance, it's a quintessential Suffolk cottage with its traditional exterior sitting prettily in the charming village of Friston. Step inside, though, and you discover a masterstroke of thoughtful renovation – where original features like exposed beams meet contemporary design and spaciousness you simply wouldn't expect. The sitting room strikes that perfect balance of cosy and stylish, with a crackling wood burner making evenings in something to look forward to after days of coastal exploration. But it's when you move through to the kitchen-diner that Myrtle Cottage really surprises – light floods in through doors opening onto the terraced garden, creating an unexpectedly airy living space that becomes the natural hub of your holiday. Every bedroom has been decorated with care – the super-king master offering a touch of luxury, while the twin rooms provide comfortable flexibility for families or friends. Outside, the gardens tell another story of thoughtful design – the front garden, conceived by renowned landscape designers, and the generous rear garden offering different levels for sunbathing, dining or simply soaking up the Suffolk peace with a good book. The location couldn't be better – just a three-minute stroll to the village pub, a short drive to the musical mecca of Snape Maltings, and just six minutes in the car to Aldeburgh's shingle beach, independent shops and restaurants. The beauty of Myrtle Cottage is its versatility – it works brilliantly for romantic retreats with its wood-burner and stylish furnishings, yet comfortably accommodates families or groups of friends with its three bedrooms and enclosed garden. Whether you're here for Aldeburgh's cultural offerings, cycling through Suffolk lanes, or for lazy days letting coastal breezes blow away the cobwebs, Myrtle Cottage provides that rare combination of character, comfort and convenience that leaves guests planning their return visit before they've even left.
