This part of Suffolk has a charm of its own, with the old wool town of Lavenham with its spectacular guildhall and the medieval houses, Long Melford, famous for Long Melford and Kentwell Halls and antique shops, plus the villages of Kersey, Clare and Cavendish, all under 30 minutes drive. The historic old market town of Bury St. Edmunds with the abbey ruins, museums, theatre, sports and swimming facilities as well as the market town of Sudbury with Gainsborough House museum are only 7 miles away, both with good rail links to London. Also within easy reach is the famous city of Cambridge and its colleges or Newmarket for the races and peaceful Flatford and Dedham -both much associated with the painter John Constable. Slightly further afield are the delightful coastal towns of Southwold and Aldeburgh.
These four, single story cottages are set around a rustic courtyard once used as a dairy cattle yard. Inside they are attractively furnished and well appointed. They are situated in open, rolling, arable farmland with delightful views across the fields. On your doorstep, there are gentle walks along “Perrydown Lane” a single track road with very few vehicles passing. This road is edged with trees and wild flower verges, these in turn lead to farm tracks and public rights of way.
We converted these holiday cottages to create comfortable and attractive layouts and took great care in selecting interesting furniture and suitable fabrics, on the walls we have many varied original watercolours, limited editions and other interesting framed prints. We hope you agree we have created four charming holiday cottages of high standard and comfort, set in the peaceful Suffolk countryside.
